For those of us who are or at one time were comic-book collectors (
or just reading for the fun of it), there is a Holy Grail. Something that we've all dreamed of finding in a dusty attic or basement at a relative's house or something. A copy of
Action Comics #1 - the very first appearance of Superman.

He couldn't fly back then, by the way. |
OK, I'm not nor was I ever a big fan of the Big Blue Boy Scout. That didn't stop me from daydreaming about finding a copy of
Action #1 hidden behind a panel in a closet somewhere. I'd rather it be a copy of
Detective Comics #27, but whatever. Dreams are what comic-books are all about. They never come true, though. Right?
Wrong.
A family facing an imminent threat of foreclosure on their home
stumbled upon a rare find in their basement. That's right...a copy of
Action #1. Not in great condition, but good enough to solve their foreclosure woes.
Dreams do come true.

Note: Remember to play the Badgerdaddy Trivia Challenge every day. I never find anything good in the basement...ever.
WTF ?!?! HOW does someone just "find" that in their basement ?!?!
ReplyDeleteI saw that the other day. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteSuperman saves the day!
Heff - Yeah, that seems a bit weird. The house was in the family since the 1950's (you would think it would be paid off by now) over a couple of generations, I guess. Still weird.
ReplyDeleteRW - He always gets the good press while Batman gets the dirty work done. Sigh.
that story makes me crazy happy. i love that superman saved the day.
ReplyDeleteBecky - He always does. Damned boy scout...
ReplyDeleteLOVE stories like that - wish they happened more often, or at least, to me. :)
ReplyDeleteSybil - more often would be nice. Just once to me would be awesome!
