You can't stop the bourbon

Whilst down in Charleston last month, we gave a new product from Firefly Distillery a test run. Sweet Tea Bourbon. Yum.

The Sweet Tea Bourbon Abides!

I happened by a liquor store tonight that I usually never visit.  Mostly because it never seems to be open.  But tonight it was, and I popped in specifically so see if it carried Firefly Sweet Tea Bourbon.  No one else up here in NY has it yet as it was only released locally for the first time in early April.  But I figured it couldn't hurt to to check it out, and lo and behold they had it.  The dude behind the counter said it was actually a mistake.  They had ordered the Sweet Tea Vodka (bleh!), and got this instead.  I happen to believe that the Universe knew I would be stopping by this particular evening.  Lucky me!

Now, I normally don't go for sweetened or flavored liquor.  I'm sweet enough, thank you very much.  But this is really good stuff.  They start with some high quality bourbon from Buffalo Trace in Kentucky.  Then they infuse it with pure cane sugar from Louisiana and South Carolina Tea.  The result is absolutely delicious.  Smooth enough to serve over ice for sipping as it's only 60 proof.  Cut with a little spring water and served with a lemon slice is another way to go.

I don't know.  I've just become a fan so it's gonna take me a while to figure out how I like it best.

Wow. That does sound good. And I would guess my odds of finding it down here in the 'Hassee are pretty good.
thanks for the tip.

"You're always going to have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together. And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving t in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will ook like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig shit, now do you? They will go through bone like butter. You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig!"

Paticus - Yeah, I'm sure you'll find it.

Bricktop - :) I added the picture of him just in case you missed the "sweet enough" reference.

The good thing about it taking awhie to figure out your favorite way to drink some good booze is, of course, more booze!

Mrs. Hall, that's from the movie Snatch. If you watch it about 16 times you'll start to understand what everyone's saying through the Cockney accents. Except Brad Pitt. I haven't got a clue what he's talking about for 3/4 of his scenes.

@Limpy 99: ooohhh I do love Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels. I think Brad Pitt does that on purpose, the not understanding his speak stuff. He played Boomhauser's cousin on King of the Hill like that. It's endearing and really, no need to understand what he's saying, as long as the pretty man keeps talking . . .

:)

Will have to check it out!

Holly - what Limpy said. Originally, Pitt was to play one of the gangsters, but he couldn't get the accent down. Then when they had him play the pikey, they just told him to be incredibly unintelligible. It worked.

Limpy - True dat. I've never had a problem with more booze.

Holly - Hi.

That actually sounds good, and I am not a sweet tea drinker..

Heff LOVES the Bourbon, but it doesn't love Heff...

Verdant Earl said...

Sybil - But no pause for the bourbon, eh? Nice!

Heff - Unfortunately, it likes me TOO much. Or fortunately. Depends on your views on such matters.

I may have to look for this one. I've tried Jeremiah Weeds Sweet Tea (which is vodka based) and I really like it. A bourbon sweet tea sounds like it could be good.

Verdant Earl said...

Marty - the difference between this and Jeremiah Weed is night and day. This one has less of an alcohol taste, it's sweeter and it's much, much smoother. Go with Jeremiah Weed in a pinch, but Firefly is much better and it isn't tainted by the inclusion of vodka. What the hell is that about anyway?

I love booze. Iffn I hadn't been part of the D.A.R.E program, i would have had SUCH DIFFERENT time in my twenties. I always thought booze would just get up and grab you, make you an alcoholic within weeks.

I could have been getting nicely toasted for some many years. but now, I only discover the art of the cocktail after I have my second child. Which limits my ability to get wasted because I am a mom and it's unseemly. Unseemly to be changing diapers and be all blurry eyed. gah.

and don't get me started on never having tried weed. I TOTALLY MISSED MY CHANCE TO BE A FUCK UP.

ok. just thought I'd rant that.

drink on EARL!!

When I was younger I had a slight, er, overdosing of Southern Comfort in a pub in England. Oh, that was a good time let me tell you. Since then, I haven't been able to touch the stuff. Nor Bourbon, nor any other liquor of any description in fact. If I even have a sniff of Whiskey my stomach turns.

So I'm purely a beer & wine head these days.

Holly - I've never tried weed either. OK...that's a lie. ;)

Kevin - I had some bad experiences with whiskey when I was younger too. I never thought I would come to enjoy it, but here I am...enjoying it. Well, not right now. But soon! :)

I'm struggling with the idea of a liquor store that hardly ever seems open.

Front for crime?

Me neither ;) - I hear it gets you stoned though.

Fact.

Wabbit - As long as they carry my special stash of booze, they can front all the crime they want.
