Get off yer asses!

In case you missed the tab at the top of this page or the footnote on the bottom of every fucking post I write, I host a Trivia game online. Today starts a new tournament so it is probably a good time for all you lurkers to join on in.  That is if you aren't a-scared!

May's winner was Limpy...again.

Limpy has won three months in a row (including a tie with me in March) now and he needs to be unseated. Do you think you have it in you? You probably don't, but I'm asking anyway.

I've changed around some of the daily topics for June and I am always looking for suggestions for Wednesday's custom trivia day. Everyone should get a shot at excelling at their own particular trivia speciality. RW is getting Baseball trivia from the Deadball era later this month and badgerdaddy is getting Premier League Soccer after that.

How about the rest of you kids? Suggest a topic that you and only you will excel at, for one day at least. Heff, howabout Playboy magazine? Avitable, what about Superman or Avril Lavigne? Slyde, maybe some Clay Aiken trivia? You know you would kick ass!

Monthly Winners thus far
May 2009 - Limpy 268 points (4 wins)
April 2009 - Limpy 282 points (6 wins)
March 2009 - Limpy 313 points (7 wins)/Me 313 points (7 wins)

February 2009 - Me 270 points (4 wins)
January 2009 - Me 243 points (3 wins)
December 2008 - Me 242 points (5 wins)

Note: Remember to play the Bug-Eyed Trivia Challenge every day. You can't keep letting Limpy and I win it every single month, can you? ;)

I won so many this month, too. But when I lose one, I lose horribly, and that's what fucked me. Plus I missed one or two this month.

Argh.

Here are my suggestions:

Superheroes
Comics
Horror movies
Computers

I suck no matter what, apparently! Today I did better than I thought - obviously, I was guessing!!
Art
Literature
My lame suggestions. I'm sure I'll suck at those, too!!!

how about fashion....slyde asked me to make this suggestion

Slyde said...

i second Avitables suggestions! enough with this soccer bullshit!

I would suggest a heavy emphasis on Ancient Egyptian History. I'm pretty sure someone would beat my average of 1 point a contest.

Booze. I'd hold my own, but no way I win here. And I say that with the utmost respect and admiration.

Avitable - You did win a bunch this month.

Michelle - well, you go girl!

Sybil - Art is a great suggestion!

2abes - of course he did.

Slyde - duly noted. But the soccer questions are staying for that day. Just to be fair.

Limpy - Wow! That Egyptian history day was brutal! And I'm sure you would do fine on booze.

Remember that time Slyde only got two correct?

Yeah. That was good...

Verdant Earl said...

Zibbs - we all enjoy a good Slyde fail every now and again.

I barely have time to read blogs and write in my own blog... let alone play trivia! Can the computer just play for me? It could just randomly choose answers, which is about all I'd end up doing anyway! :-)

Verdant Earl said...

Dave2 - I hear ya. Maybe I could write an auto-script for you. A, B, B, C, A, D, D, A....something like that. Geek confession: About 12 years ago I participated in a weekly NFL pool. Pick all the games in the week and the cumulative winner at the end of the season won a ton. I was tired of sucking at it year after year, so I wrote a simple program to pick the winners of each game. I input the teams (home and away) and the point spreads and used a randomizer to predict scores. I was in 1st place by a decent margin after the first half of the season. In the second half I regressed to the mean, but I still did better randomly picking winners than picking them myself. /geekconfession

Fine! I played. Happy now?

Ha! Didn't do too bad. I can't believe I missed the Kevin Smith one, though. Damn.

Please don't do Egyptian trivia again. I think I only got two right on that one. I like movies/music/comic book stuff. You know - the no brainer type trivia.

Jennifer and Sandi said...

Damn it, I forgot my username and password!!!

- Jennifer

Verdant Earl said...

Callie - no worries. Egyptian trivia is deader than King Tut in my mind. O-vah!

Jenn - I think your username was "Jennifer". Can't help you out with the password.

Heff said...

I answer so Got-Damned slow that I don't have a prayer...and yet I still try....

Mrs. Hall said...

i play in spirit. too damn tired. but, i play in spirit.

Verdant Earl said...

Heff - you did really well last month, I thought. Didn't you?

Holly - And you call me an old bastard. ;)

How about Hip Hop? Then I can win. ;)

I totally forget to play every day but I added your site to my "morning coffee" in Firefox so I will be there, ready to kick ass. Or yanno, at least play.

Verdant Earl said...

Hilly - well, then I sure can give you a hip-hop day in the future. I'm already dreading it.

Mrs. Hall said...

Earl: that's so funny!

LORD SAKES!!!!!

oof. When I first started working at my clinic they kept my patient load very small because they wanted me to grow and learn at a steady pace and not be bombarded by a huge number of patients.

So, like 3 weeks ago I says, I says, ok, you can schedule like everyone else.

OMG

I am actually working 7 out of the 8 hours I am here.

the blog and the comments on other blogs are sufferin.. hee heee

:)

I respect and appreciate how hard you try to get me to play trivia. I LOVE TRIVIA, but it exposes my stupidness to play against/for someone I know.

Verdant Earl said...

Poppy - somehow I doubt any stupidity would show. :)

Lifeofkaylen said...

oh...you make the trivia game?? I wondered why you always promote it on every blog-I just assumed you were some total geek who likes trivia games....which I guess you really are.
I haven't played much because I was horrible. If you could make one about human resources, or cats, or parenting, or harry potter or reality tv shows---I'm totally going to take everyone down!!

Verdant Earl said...

Kaylen - I just host it which requires me to pick the categories. The rest is random, up to the website itself. But on Wednesdays we do have Custom Trivia day so I could pick Harry Potter or cats or whatever, if it is requested.

badgerdaddy said...

Slyde... Soccer bullshit?? Oh yeah, it's only the most watched and played sport in the world by far... Yeah, load of old arse, that!

Avitable said...

Millions of people watch American Idol, too, Badger. Just because it's popular doesn't make it good.

Verdant Earl said...

badger - It's Ugly Americanism at it's finest. I kinda dig soccer, but I'm going to be absolute ass at trivia on it.

Avitable - Don't even get me started on AI. That shit sucks!

badgerdaddy said...

Avitable, that illustrates my point quite nicely, thanks - you see, outside the US, who the hell watches American Idol? No-one.
Football, on the other hand, crosses cultural, racial and language boundaries and in my travels, I've found it is the one universal language. Really. So yeah, great comparison!

badgerdaddy said...

Monsieur Avitable; that last sentence was meant to sound almost Earl-like, but it didn't come out quite right - kind of like, 'Great comparison, yo!' or similar... Apologies... Sounded harsher than intended...

Verdant Earl said...

badger - Didn't American Idol come from Britain initially? Pop Idol or some such nonsense? We can at least blame you for Simon Cowell. Paula Abdul is on us though. Sorry about that. ;)

badgerdaddy said...

I'm sorry to say, yes it did. It's all Simon bloody Cowell's fault. I think the first series over here, which has spawned numerous other shite shows, was called Pop Idol.

*shudders*
