Meow...see? |
We took her to the vet and he thinks it might be feline neuropathy related to hyperthyroidism. That's usually something that comes with feline diabetes, something she definitely does NOT have. But in rare cases, cats with hyperthyroidism can get it too. Right now we are just waiting for the lab tests to tell us, hopefully, exactly what is wrong with her.
She is resting now, on a bit of pain medication. So maybe it will be all okay. We just don't know. She is getting pretty old.
There should be some kind of offset for those of us who don't have children, and who never wanted children. Our animals should be allowed to live for twice or thrice as long as normal. It's only fair.

I couldn't agree more with your closing point. My fingers, toes and all that's good inside me are all crossed.
i just crossed everything that i have TWO of...
ouch.. that hurts.
p.s.
this is probably the perfect time for you guys to adopt 4 loving baby gerbils that need a good home.
Good vibes, prayers, etc. dispatched.
As long as pets do live, it's never long enough. Thinking good thoughts for her.
Just said a prayer for Sammi.
xoxo
Not a cat fan, but I do understand the potential loss of a pet. Do what you can to keep her comfortable.
Sending my best cat vibes to your kitty.
Good thoughts to her! Little Kitty had hyperthyroidism for about the last 4 years of her life! So, definitely long life ahead of her if she wants to have it!
Yeah, been there and understand the emotions. How old is she? I lived with a cat who made it to 21 and my younger son's cat is still hopping around on 3 legs at 18...
Hoping the best for Sammi.
Thanks for the kind thoughts everyone.
Sammi is doing a little worse today. The vet got back to us and thinks it's definitely neuropathy from the hyperthyroid issue. And most likely a blood clot in her front paws from heart disease from the hyperthyroid thing. Ugh.
So we are going to put her on thyroid medication and baby aspirin, and the vet wants her in on Friday for an ultrasound on her heart. I'm not sure why? Just so that we know it IS heart disease? I don't really get it. The treatment will still be the same. And she hates going there, so I don't know if it's worth the added stress it will cause her.
But right now...I'm not sure she's gonna be around much longer. :(
Wabbit - we think she's around 15. She was a feral and Gia adopted her when she was young around 14 years ago or so, but we aren't really sure.
