Why should I care...

...if I had to cut my hair?  I've got to move with the fashions, or be outcast. - Pete Townshend from Quadrophenia

So here's a picture of me that I posted here from about a year and half ago.  Ladies...try to keep it together, okay?

Since then, I've gone for about 3 or 4 haircuts.  Once every 4-6 months.  Just a trim each time to keep things a little neater.  The last one was in September when I had about 4 inches of hair cut off all around. Currently, my hair is about 8-9 inches longer than it appears in the above picture.  I haven't been able to do the old top-knot hairdo in quite a while because it leaves too much hair falling past my shoulders to the top of my back for my comfort.  My everyday hairdo lately has been a ponytail.  I don't think I've worn my hair down in about 6 months now.  For more than an hour or so, anyway.

So I'm contemplating a change.  I think that I'm gonna hit my rock n' roll barber shop down the road for a quick fix to get my hair back to the length it was in that picture.  But after that?  I'm thinking about going for the Full Monty come Spring.  The only thing holding me back is that Gia prefers me with longer hair.  She will still love me as much (she says), but she prefers the longer hair.  Honestly, I feel the same way about her.  She wants to do a real short pixie cut, but I keep talking her out of it.

And some baldness is starting to creep in around back.  It's completely hidden by the ponytail, but it's there and I know it's there.  And I've always said that I would cut it all off if it ever became an issue.  Not that it would be an issue for anyone else but me, ya understand?  It's just something that I've always said I would do.

Besides, I think it's good to totally change your image every few years.  Slyde will tell you that I morph into a totally different person every half-decade or so.  He jokes that the next time he sees me, I will probably be a young Asian boy.

I think he just secretly likes young Asian boys, if you ask me.

Mine is always short. Touches the top of my ear and I start to get really bothered with it. So far not one sign of balding, which is odd because both my grandfathers were bald and my dad had a small bald spot at the back of his head. So I don't know what's going on.

The best haircuts when you have developing baldness is "whatever you have to do to NOT try to be hiding it." Of course the extreme of this is the old guy comb over.

Just..... no.

Having been a hairy little hippie and never quite recovered from the experience I think my hair is now short - it's still half way down my ears. If you've got it flaunt it!!!

:D

i am the opposite of you gia...i love a guy with short, short hair. bald is fine, too. my dad was a cop who had my mom run the clippers over his head once a week (on the shortest setting). i guess i grew up with the most masculine man i know having short hair so in my head men have really short hair. strange that i won't date a guy in the military or a guy who is a cop, but i love their hair.

fortunately i'm dating an EX-cop who is a former marine...yaaaaaay for me getting short hair!

now back to you. i think BOTH you and gia should go short. see what you each think, then adjust accordingly. it is only hair. it'll grow back!

You're probably right about Slyde, but DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR, DUDE !!!

Take it from Heff, one day the "bald will creep" to the point you can't hide it with short hair, and a ponytail will be your only saving grace for rebellion.

Just 2 cents from the proud owner of a rockin' Skullet.

I don't really give a shit, if we can't even have updated pictures! Geez!!

(Otherwise, my husband had super long hair - in the 90's. He keeps threatening to grow it back, btu his hair is super thick and salt and pepper, and he looks younger with it short. Plus, he has great cheekbones and jawbone, so he looks better with it short. It depends on the guy, for me.)

RW - Well, I absolutely agree about not hiding whatever bald spot you might have. I tend to accidentally hide it because of putting it up to get it off my neck...that's all.

Wabbit - That's what my barber just told me. He's going to try to convince against getting rid of it all come Spring.

Becky - If I'm lucky...it will grow back. ;)

Heff - The skullet is pretty sweet! :)

Sybil - I'll post updated pics over the weekend. Deal?

Poppy - Clearly not cool enough for the mullet. Clearly. ;)

RW: Balding comes from the mother's father, not through the paternal line. It's linked with the mother's X-Chromosome.

Earl: I have to side with Gia--I dig long hair on dudes, the longer the better. And I'm a huge fan of the pony tail thing. Yeah, I got stuck in the 80s... wish the big hair dude thing would come back!

Well SK then I still can't explain it because he was almost totally bald before he was 60. Maybe all that LSD actually did do something to my chromosomes...

The most important thing is that Slyde likes it.

Hey, I secretly like young Asian boys, too, if it helps any. Hooray for rock and roll barber shops! Anyway, it's all in the glowing personality within.... long hair on skinny young guitar players is hot, but a man who walks and talks with pride and intelligence with whatever the length of his hair is very attractive, too. Just saying.

I agree with Gia, you wear your current haircut well. Not an easy task, most dudes come off as "Mr Sensitive Pony Tail Patchouli Smell Guy." Your love of beer seems to deflect that. Go Team Gia, keep the hair!! . :-)
