You know what I hate?

Our cat's eyes are a little fucked up right now.  This asshole.

Bootsy!

His eyes look okay in that picture, but he is prone to either pink eye or allergies or just general bruising around the eyes due to rough kitty play. We honestly don't know whey his eyes get fucked up every once in a while. I think the last possible reason is a big one. Whitey plays hard, Whitey gonna get beat down every once in a while. Bitch.

But, of course, we are worried parents. And fuck you for laughing at "parents" in that last section. You deal with your shit, I'll deal with mine. So we decided that if he doesn't recover in the next day or so, we are taking him back to the Vet. Which I hate. Because I'm beginning to think it's all a scam.

Every time we bring one of our animals to the Vet, it's several hundred bucks out of our bank account. I mean, can't he just look at him and say "Yah...it's just irritated. Here's some ointment"? No, he's always "Well, let's do some blood work and maybe a full series of allergy tests and blah blah blah can't be too careful", and then cha-ching...$400 is gone. They take advantage of pet owners because of how much we love our pets. And there is no alternative. It really, really sucks.

And most unfairly, these loved ones aren't covered by any family insurance policy.

People who choose not to have kids should be allowed insurance coverage for their animals and for them to live 3 times as long as normal. That is all.

As the parent of four children of the canine variety, I had to get pet insurance. Especially when one of the kids is a bulldog, aka "dog that needs to go to the vet for something or other every flippin week". It really does cover the costs and isn't too expensive.

Shania - Now that we have 4 feline friends living with us, I'm thinking pet insurance might be a good idea.

Yeah - I was gonna say - there IS pet insurance!
To be honest, I think vets are a scam, too. Mostly. I see the same stray, feral cats, year after year. Clearly, none of them have had shots of any sort (or at least not in several years), and they look FINE. Also, when I worked for my friend, there was a vet place right around the corner, so I thought maybe it would be convenient to take one of the strays there to get fixed, and asked a girl who came in about the cost. The price was INSANELY high - and I told her that was ridiculous, an she was stunned, and sputtered about how they had all these great machines to ensure the cat was okay, blah, blah. It was TWICE what my normal vet asked for a spay, and I used to WORK for a vet, so I KNOW what "needs" to be done. They clearly sucked people in, made them feel like they were bad owners who didn't love their pet if they didn't get all this shit done or use their services, and made shit tons of money.
Uh, sorry about my long ass rant. :)
But in short - maybe you could shop around for a cheaper vet, or certainly refuse certain tests. There are good vets out there who don't try to take you for everything they can, and some who will take advantage, for sure.
I sure hope Bootsy feels better.

Sybil - I've looked into pet insurance, and it's kind of a scam too. Most experts say you would be better off putting the premiums in a savings account instead as most pets won't need medical care in excess of what you are paying over their lives in premiums. Fuckers.

Slyde - Welcome back. I didn't miss you at all.

I had a question - does it bother Bootsy, or is it just a pain to look at/ deal with? If the cat otherwise seems okay, I'd let her ride it out.

Sybil cares more about your cat that i do about YOU...

Sybil - It doesn't appear to bother him too much. Occasionally we will see him rubbing his eyes with his paws while cleaning himself, but that's it. Yeah...I don't know what we are gonna do.

Slyde - She has class.

If it's not bothering the cat, I'd let it be. Maybe look online and find some drops or something. In fact, I'll start looking now! :)
Yeah, Slyde. I am clearly CLASSY. :)

Sybil - all about the class. Thanks!
