Didn't see that coming

You ever find yourself rooting for the underdog? Do yourself a favor and watch this video from this past weekend's "Britain's Got Talent". It's the feel-good story of the week.

I love how the producers of the show portray her as one of the retarded idiots that everyone gets to make fun of initially. Then she starts to sing and she even makes Simon Cowell look human. For a little while.

Hat tip to Warming Glow for posting this yesterday so I could post it today. Because that, my friends, is how the Internets works.

I'm so moved. As someone whose musical dreams have been kicked in the ass for over 40 years, I celebrate this woman. Just proves that talent has nothing to do with youth, beauty, or sex appeal. Talent is ageless.

Thank you for this!

Steph - it even warmed my occasionally frigid heart.

The female version of Paul Potts. Thanks for posting that. I love to see people shocked after they've already judged a person.

The talented Ms Boyle is currently doing the rounds faster than a politician taking a bribe.

Imagine what she would look like after a makeover?

She's a fellow Scot... already a winner in our book.

Simply awesome. I hate that fucking show and all the other shows like it for their 'let's laugh at the retard' attitude. But she gave me goosebumps, and both my nipples went hard; there can be no higher praise.

This is simply awesome. I am posting it on my blog today and will give you shout out. I simply cannot not post it!!!

AWESOME!!

HAPPY HUMP DAY!!!

Ugh. I hate all of those shows.

Chaka - I had to look up who Paul Potts was, and yeah...kinda like him. But even more so in my book. He was a nice shy guy with bad teeth. She came across as a train wreck.

Jimmy - Scotland has Talent!

badger - that's why I hate all those shows as well. The 'let's laugh at the retard' attitude, as you put it. Nice to see them take one back.

Michelle - post away.

Avitable - me too, but isn't this a nice story? No? You mean old bastard you! ;)

Cissa - I aim to please. Or please to aim...I forget which. ;)

Kate - dunno if that will do it.

Heff - Ha!

watched this yesterday...

she cant sing for shit, but she's really hot!

Hubby told me about this yesterday - he was simply blown over by her. I loved Simon's wide-eyed stare near the beginning when she began singing.

And I HATE Simon Cowell with a bloody passion.

Thanks Earl!

Slyde - when she does that little dance about being 47? Hawt!

Callie - he is an uber-douche. Simon Cowell...not your hubby.

Well, she does have an amazing voice, but I think what she also has going for her, is that she is aware of her physical image.

She did put a hand on the hip and stand tall when acknowledging her visual impact on the judges and audiences.

And for this she takes it in quietly. Then delivers unbelievable vocals.

And really, she just needs a few adjustments (eyebrow wax, better fitting clothing, better use of color in the clothing, new hair style to fit her facial features) nothing massive, just a few bits and pieces to excentuate the positive.

Her voice though, i am glad she had the courage to withstand the sideways glances, the rolled eyes, and the naysayers. I am glad she stood there and delivered the gifts she has.

:)

thanks for posting the vid Earl.

You want to know what I think? I think this is all the proof we need to showcase the stupid, superficial, glam-based, prejudiced society we've all created wherein we're all happy and smug to say "never judge a book by its cover" but we're all the hypocrites who do it anyway. We want shock and awe. We want impossible bodies and brilliant faces and flawless images and we say we don't need to have that but we're all liars.

Go Susan go!

The reason for the crowd's reaction is that we all know we're full of shit. Talent is talent, and being cynical and dismissive about this kind of stuff is a mark of immaturity.

Only a faker in their own right refuses to see the value in this piece. Thanks Earl.

I saw this...on my Yahoo News feeder and on Skyler's Dad's blog.

Awesome!

Holly - she is getting a chance is what matters to me.

RW - This kind of thing is why I stopped watching these kind of shows. Of course this is the first time I've seen where the contestant turned the tables on convention. I'm rooting for her.

Callie - and now you saw it here. See? Good things come in threes.

Yeah that was great.

And just a note to not take so much space in my precious comments section of my blog..

Just kidding. Great story you left over there today Earl.

Zibbs - maybe I should have posted it here, eh? ;)

Dave2 - Ha. Simon's Grinch heart grew three sized larger during that performance. The big softy.
