It's effing hot out....

...so let's listen to some cool music. Whaddya think?

Sublime - What I Got

I couldn't find an unedited version, so you get the SFW edition. Deal with it, beeyatches! Sublime always makes me think of summer and the beach. Always.

Lovin' Spoonful - Summer in the City

It's a hot one out there kids. It's a pity that the days can't be like the nights, all right.

Sly & The Family Stone - Hot Fun in the Summertime

Sly may have been a sonuvabeetch, but damn if he and his "family" didn't make some good music.

The Motels - Suddenly Last Summer

Are you cool enough to remember The Motels? Were you hip enough to appreciate them?

Mungo Jerry - In the Summertime

That's right. Mungo fucking Jerry! Possibly the greatest one-hit wonder summer hit of all-time.

Feeling hot, hot, hot...

Hot child in the city...

My Guy owns an irrigation company. I can't complain when we hit a heat wave, I can just thank the lord.

Summer in the City always makes me think of that commercial they ran every summer here in NY for some NYC kids camp.

What i Got always reminds me of you, believe it or not. The first time i heard it we were driving in your car and i remember thinking i had to go out and buy that album.

I approve of all these choices. Except I didn't know someone named Mungo Jerry sang "In the Summertime"! I've been educated! :)

Mungo! From the era of cheap weed and lots of it. Don't tell me that wasn't pot-induced. I was there for that... :-)

Candy - He's sure in the right business this week!

Slyde - Awww...that was sweet. I take back every bad thing I ever said about you.

Sybil - Amazing, isn't it?

RW - I WISH I was there for that. By the time I hit my stride Reagan was in office, and we all know how much that sucked. Not being political here...just hating on the 80's.

God, I haven't heard that Motels song in YEARS !!

All of these videos clearly place you smack dab in the middle of the Baby Boomer Generation......which means you are officially 'uncool' to Gen-Xers

Heff - It's a good one. Remembe "Only the Lonely"? That was a good one too!

Bruce - I'm a cusp guy. Born in 1966 which is clearly after the Baby Boomer generation, but I think pre-Gen X. Even though the Wiki says Gen X goes from 1961-1981. I dunno. I just happen to like music from my time, before my time, whatever.

All great songs, especially The Motels. loved that song.

My addition is "Summertime Rolls" by Jane's Addiction. That's one that I've loved to hear for years.

All excellent choices mate. Love how back in the good ol' days it was ok to sing "have a drink, have a drive...". That reminds me when my dad used to drive us home after drinking himself silly. Ah, England in the 1970s, driving while loaded totally 100% legal. Nostalgia.

Marty - Haven't heard that one in a long while.

Kevin - Same here. I can remember my older brothers and sisters being sent home with a warning from the cops for driving drunk. Times changes.
