- The Way of the Gun - FINALLY available to the Internets! No, it's not high art. But it is a whole mess o' fun. Dig as Benicio del Toro and Ryan Phillipe fuck some shit up as a modern-day Butch and Sundance. Hell, just watch it for the first 5 minutes of the film which features a potty-mouthed Sarah Silverman. It's...glorious.
- Calvin Marshall - I spoke about this one last week on our radio show that I'm sure you are all listening to each week. Ahem. It's a small film, the kind that studios don't seem to make all that often anymore. Sure, baseball is the background to the story, but it's more about small towns and growing up and dealing with life. Great acting all around in this little gem.
- Marwencol - I actually haven't watched this one yet, but it's in my queue, raring to go. It's a documentary about a man who was left brain damaged after a savage beating who communicates through elaborate dioramas he builds of a fictional town called Marwencol. From just about every review I've read, this one is supposed to be awesome.
- Torchwood - This one is a British television series...a spin-off of Doctor Who, actually. But much more sophisticated and adult-themed than it's predecessor. Just as much fun, though. The first three series (seasons) are available on Netflix right now, and the fourth series should be available this Summer as it airs new on Starz Play each week. I've written about this show before, and it's one of my all-time favorites. You don't need to be a fan of the Doctor to enjoy it.
- The Crazies - The 2009 remake of the 1973 George Romero classic. You know what I mostly hate about some of the newer horror flicks out there? It's that feeling that no one would really act that way under those circumstances. Like carrying around a video camera while battling for your life. I never had that feeling while watching this film. That's why I think it's a near-perfect entry in the genre. And Timothy Olyphant is just dreamy, of course.

I usually watch stuff on dvd, so finding things on instant play to suggest is harder.
1. The Good, The Bad, and the Weird: a recent Korean western about a train heist and, uh, a bunch of other stuff. Completely awesome.
2. Cry Baby: if you haven't already seen it a million times.
3. The Runaways: not the greatest rock biopic ever made, but better than I expected and quite a bit of fun.
4. The Naked Civil Servant: fascinating bio pic of Quentin Crisp. Seriously, this one was unexpectedly good. I got it on a whim and have suggested it to several people.
5. Nigh Watch: dark, Russian sf/fantasy flick.
here here for the crazies remake. i watched it over xmas break and really enjoyed it.
now you're gonna put me on the spot. i havent been watching too much on instant, but heres some recomendations
1) group sex - i found this to be a pretty funny romcom.
2) His name was Jason - a documentary on the friday the 13th movies. if you like those films, this was a must see
3) capitalism: a love story - i always enjoy the michael moore movies, and im halfway thru this one.
Hank - I've had "The Good, the Bad and the Weird" on my Instant Q for a while now. I need to watch it. Have you seen "Sukiyaki Western Django" yet? I've seen "Cry Baby" (loved it), "The Runaways" (meh) and "Night Watch" (and it's sequel "Day Watch"...loved them!), but I'll add the Naked Civil Servant thingy. Thanks!
Slyde - Added, already in my queue and already watched it. Thanks!
Yep, I'm kind of an Asian western fan. I think TGTBTW is my favorite, though.
Hank - Cool...looking forward to watching it!
I don't know, dude.....this seems like a risky way to catch a social networking disease....
Heff - I practice safe Netflix. No worries. ;)
I cannot contribute to this conversation. Can we talk about blow jobs, now?
Sybil - Who's stopping you? I'll start...I'm a fan.
I love the Sarah Silverman cameo in "Way of the Gun" - that makes that movie for me.
The Crazies was excellent - Timothy Olyphant has really done well for himself.
I recommend that everyone check out "For Love Or Money" starring Michael J. Fox.
Adam - That's the one where he is a concierge, neh? It's not available on Netflix Instant currently.
Yeah, that's the one. Sucks that it's not available!
Meeee toooo.
Sybil - Different, um, fans...I believe. ;)
I actually have "The Way of the Gun" on my instant list already (a suggestion from a friend).
I just watched Zombieland last night and loved it.
For my instant watch suggestions, I love that Penn & Teller's Bullshit show is on there... just the first 6 seasons so far, but it's funny and entertaining.
