I can admire this guy, since I know he has to be one damn good swimmer.
However, once the Wheaties boxes have gathered dust and he has done the talk show ciruit, he will probably end up at a desk in a call center doing Insurance work.
MikeB - you mean coming back from the head injury in '88? That was good, but 4 Olympic gold medals in total for him over two Olympic games (he was the favorite to win double gold in '80 as well, but the US boycotted those games) doesn't add up to what Phelps has done. So far.
Lotus - Um, analysts are predicting that he will make upwards of $50 million in the coming year via endorsements. I seriously doubt a desk job is in his future.
I was watching the Olympics with my son and he asked what Phelps was thinking about on the starting blocks. I said, "probably that he's really sick of swimming"
TOTALLY agree Earl man! Hi there, just popped over to check ya out... see you on Slyde's blog all the time... you beat me for commenting... trying to catch ya up... DUNNO WHY? Tis fun I suppose. Anyway... I might be back... you 'sound' like an alright guy... but YA NEVER KNOW! LOL....

How long did you stare lovingly at that picture before you decided to share it with us?
Slyde - I share it with YOU. Big difference.
It just shows what can happen when ADHD is properly channelled.
Mmmm...swimmers.
Mr WithaY has been glued to the Olympics ever since he discovered the beach volleyball competitions.
b.e. earl: I concur!!!
Evyl - What can I channel my problems into to make me an Olympian? Never mind. Masturbation is just fine.
LBTW - the men, right? ;)
Michelle - And he is only 23! He can easily come back in 4 years for more! Crazy good.
I'll be surprised if he's back for more at 27 - swimming is very much a young man's game, he'd struggle a bit at 27. Sounds crazy, but there ya go...
BTW, re your previous post, I'd love it if the next dinosaur skeleton that gets turned up is a dragon. That would rock.
badger - I dunno. The guy who swam freestyle in the relays with him is 31 or 32. And that 41 year old woman Dana Torres just won a silver...
I think the world would be better with dragons as well.
Phelps is phenomenal, no question. But whenever they talk about the best performance ever, I think of Greg Louganis. Remember what he did?

Glory is fleeting.
