Derek Reese

Edit - Rather than an in-depth analysis of the bullshit slung at tonight's Presidential Debate, I give you in-depth analysis of Brian Austin Green. You are most welcome! - Earl

If anyone had told me 15 years ago that Brian Austin Green would star in one of my favorite TV shows AND that he would play my favorite character on the show, well...I probably would have had an aneurysm.

He and his character in Beverly Hills, 90210 typified the worst of the worst of the 1990's, in my opinion. The guy was a joke. Yet he continued to work fairly steadily in television and film once that evil show was finally fucking cancelled. Stuff that I never watched, but he continued to get work.

Then he showed up on the fifth episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as the time traveling uncle of John Connor and the brother of Kyle Reese. At first, I hated the choice. As I stated, he was everything that I hated about the Melrose Place era of American television.

But he has won me over.

The past two episodes, in particular, he has done an outstanding job projecting a damaged, war-ravaged individual dealing with an awful lot in his life. Since the show has gone backwards on the Cameron character (I'm beginning to wonder if Summer Glau has the chops to play this role the way it should be played), Derek Reese has become my favorite character on the show. And I'm beginning to forget that he is Brian Fucking Austin Fucking Green, to tell you the truth.

And I would never have predicted that to happen. Not even if had one of them there fancy time travel machines.

I hear what you're saying about the Melrose Place type shows, but you guys in the States have so many choices. American TV is wonderful. The little I saw when I was there last month convinced me the nay-sayers are mistaken.

I've got to start watching this show again.

I haven't seen the terminator show, but I remember watching Brian Austin Green WAY back when he played Abby's son on Knots Landing.

I watched this show once by accident (I thought it was MSNBC....really)...and while I found the production value pretty good, it isn't my cup of tea. Mostly an adolescent male fantasy feast with lots of gun fire and a smokin hot android terminator teenager....yea...this is aimed at the Hemmingway / Tom Wolfe crowd, that is for sure.

Mr. Poopie - Once I looked past its obvious flaws, I was hooked.

Jiggs - nicely done!

Mike - It seems to get better every year.

Zibbs - I'd start with last year's season finale. Very good.

Sharon - Heya! Wow, I don't remember him on Knot's Landings. Maybe because I didn't watch it. ;)

Bruce - It's aimed at my inner 13-year old. And my inner 13-year old likes it! :)

I don't watch the show but my husband does...the other night, I walked by the TV and paused then incredulously asked, "IS that David Silver?".

He's all growed up and good now!

I have the same thing about Uncle Jesse from "Full House." Every time I see him on "ER" now, I just say, crap ... he is more than just his hair.

Hilly - I couldn't remember his name from 90210. Um, thanks. ;)

AHAU - I haven't watched ER in about 8 years. I can't believe it is still on.

WLC - Believe me, I was gonna include something about my over the top gheyness in this post. Sigh.

Kiki - Well, not in the current timeline. Right?

I hated BAG so much I would never compromise my values and give him a second chance. Like SOME people I kind of know.
