I've changed my mind...

...about Saturday Night Live this year. I think.

They hit it out of the park this weekend with a surprisingly comic Anne Hathaway as guest host.

This clip, in particular, cracked me up! Someone, maybe me, is going to Hell.

But it wasn't just that hilarious skit. Most of them worked this week. The opening VP debate, the Nancy Pelosi/Barney Frank news conference, Weekend Update (too bad that Poehler and Meyers are now just finding their voice), the Mary Poppins VD skit, Mark Wahlberg Talks to Animals (that one really made me laugh)...all were terrific!

This was the way it used to be. Well done SNL!

I laughed at almost every skit. Mark Wahlberg was a great one, and it was short, which was nice. The Mary Poppins one might have been my favorite. It was eerie how much Anne Hathaway looked and sounded like Julie Andrews when she was young.

I just watched the Wahlberg skit again, and Andy Samberg nailed it.

"Was her forehead really that big or was I looking at it through a couple of bubbles?" - GREAT LINE.

It's about time SNL was funny again.

Wil - "Hey chicken, I know people wanna eat you and all, but I just wanna talk to you. Ok?"

Zibbs - it was hilarious.

Heff - Amen!

My wife really does not understand this type of humor, so we don't tend to watch it. Although the opening debate with Queen Latifah and Tina Fey was pretty much dead on. The ending bit with Sarah Palin and the flute was hilarious.

I thought this weekend's SNL was really good, too. But a little depressing, too, in that they didn't really have to adjust the reality of the situation to be funny. They pretty much repeated the VP debate verbatim. And that part where Hathaway gets teary because they can only sell their timeshares at a ten percent profit? I had that conversation with a "friend" last week.

Bruce (I don't know if I can get used to calling you that) - The nice thing about living in 2008 is you can just go to NBC.com or Hulu or wherever and watch the bits you missed the very next day. For free.

Faiqa - Heya! Yeah, I know. Last week's sketch with Sarah Fey's Couric interview was especially weird. The funniest parts had Fey using Palin's exact words. Sometimes truth is both funnier and stranger than fiction.

To quote Fred Durst from the early millennium Nu-Metal band Limp Bizkit, "We are all in 'agreeance' (sic)" over this Wahlberg skit. Oh...and also...I did it all for the Nookie.

Fred Armisen pulls of such a good Lawrence Welk, that I felt as if I time-machined back to a more wholesome innocence. Has anyone seen my Flux-Capacitor.

I only saw the opening skit, with Queen Latifah as moderator Gwen Ifil. The whole skit was funny, with a nod to the line "I believe that marriage should be between two unwilling teenagers"

WLC - took me a minute to put together Calvin Klein with the Flux Capacitor. Nicely done.

Marty - that was a great line!

It's getting a little hot under the collar. I laughed my ass off. Well, not entirely. I mean, there's a little bit left.

I kinda think the whole skit with Tina Fey fell a little flat. I mean, at this point, Sarah Palin is a joke unto her self.

Making fun of her is like making fun of retarded people. There is also a righteousness to the jokes about her. I can't help but feel bad for her, a little.

At the same time, she is what she is. Ridiculous all the same.

hmm

Mr. Poopie - If this means going to Hell, then I don't wanna go to Heaven! ;)

Mrs. Hall - Hey, do you know Mr. Poopie? And if making fun of her is like making fun of retarded people, um, what did you think of that clip? Eeek! :)
