Etymology of a Nickname - pt II

Bennington and Gogo
I did this a while back with our Avery and how his name somehow morphed into Bootsy Collins. It happens with all of them. Avery becomes Bootsy. Wolowitz becomes Dr. Wu. Bennington becomes LG...short for Little Guy. Even though he's probably the biggest of the pride now.  But he is he youngest, and at one point he was the littlest.

But Gogo's nickname transformation makes me laugh all the time. Somehow, she has become Feta Cheese. Yeah...Gogo to Feta Cheese. How does that happen?  Let's take a look, shall we?

  • Gogo becomes Gogo-Nut, because she's bat-shit crazy. That didn't stick.
  • Then we start calling her Bobo, for some reason. Didn't stick either.
  • But the "Bobo" gave us inspiration for Gogo Fett. Well, Boba Fett helped a bit with that one.
  • From there it's easy. Goga Fett becomes Gogo Feta which, of course, becomes Feta Cheese.
See? That wasn't so difficult.

Dear God...I've become an insane cat person. Help. Me.

PS - Can you handle the redonk cuteness of that pic above? Now Bennington is large and Gogo is tiny, but that picture really highlights the difference. What you can't see is that he is basically sitting ON her. A situation that would normally turn her into Black Annis. All fury and claws. But she was oddly content for 15 minutes or so like this.

There is no helping you because kitties are just so darn cute! Admit it... you don't WANT help. Not really.

Dave2 - Nah...look at 'em! :)

Ooo. Who would want to be Black Anus??

Are there sane cat people? Very cute kitties. And that's the same cat as the yak cat? She looks much fluffier in this picture.

My kids named Sugar when they were still very small after their favorite food group. We added on the Tov because we would sing him the Boker Tov (good morning) song, except sing it to him "Sugar Tov". Which is sort of misleading considering how evil he is.

His other occasional nickname "Meshugana" (Yiddish maybe, or Hebrew for "crazy") fits him much better.

Those cats rock! LG is so freaking fluffy and large. Yeah for big cats. And also, what Dave2 above says... :)

RW - Annis, Annis...not anus.

Jilly - Yeah, that's the same yak cat in the background. All her yak hair is underneath. Because her brother is Wolowitz, she also gets called Gogowitz oft-times as well.

Kate - And he hasn't grown into his full Ragamuffin mane yet. Another year and he will be regal.

I have taken to calling Ozzy "Ozzwald J. Ozzyton"...

He's very proper...

Verdant Earl said...

Slyde - It's the J that makes it fancy. What was the Penguin's real name in the second Batman flick? Oswald J. Copperpot...or something like that.

Becky - Cats rule, dogs drool! :)

Adam - I've been borderline for about 5 years now. My psychosis is now complete.

Awwwwww.
Our cats' names generally stick, but they always evolve into some sort of nickname. Right now, Dio's nickname is Asshole.

Verdant Earl said...

Asshole is a name we use for Bootstrap too. Because he is.

Verdant Earl said...

Damn autocorrect. Bootstrap?

Yes, I do this too! It's hilarious.I do it with humans too. I never said I was normal...

Kitty's are so very cute!

You really need a dog. Their names always reduce down to 'DipShit' or 'Dufuss'.

Verdant Earl said...

Candy - Nicknames for humans are a lost art. Just check out the sad state of major league baseball. Not an Oil Can or No Neck in sight. Sigh.

Bruce - Nah...I call the cats jackass and asshole all the time. Well, one of them (Bootsy).

I miss having kitties. They are so fluffy and warm and adorable. We are solidly a dog family, for now, with 2 Saint Bernards and a Pug. But I haven't ruled out getting a kitten or two in the near future... But just how crazy would I be then, with 3 dogs AND 2 cats?
