Missile Command

So it seems that someone launched a missile about 35 miles off the coast of Los Angeles the other day.  I say "someone" because we, as in the U.S. of A., haven't admitted that it was one of ours.  They've confirmed that it wasn't an attack on Uh-mericuh, but they won't go as far as saying they know who actually did launch the summbitch.

I hear news stories like this and I often wonder if this used to happen all the time.  Before the days of the internet and video phones and traffic helicopters.  Just a missile tech on a Navy ship somewhere with an itchy trigger finger.  Or a mis-communication between ship and command.

Listen, it was probably just a test or a malfunction or something that slipped through the miles of red tape that our military is wrapped in.  So here's a new rule I'd like our government to live by in the future for shit like this:

If it doesn't appear that it was an attack, then just admit that it was an un-announced local launch test of a harmless, non-weaponized missile.

Done.  That's all I want.  It will help me sleep better at night.  Thank you.

Last I heard it was just a plane with a vapor trail refracted into an optical illusion by the smog. They said it isn't a missile going away from the camera, it's a plane coming towards the camera.

Who ya gonna believe...

It's a UFO! With pew pew lasers!

RW - I dunno. That's the same bs that investigators tried to lay on us with the reported missile strike on Flight 800 back in 1996. I smell a cover-up.

Avitable - Are there any other kind of lasers? Pew pew!!!

I agree. With today's technology - everyone having a camcorder, etc., the military can't really get away with SHIT anymore.

I gotta go. I'm about to get hit by a chem-trail....

I like how you say, "Uh-mericuh." Ooooh child, it takes me back to a time when GWB was running shit. I like more cream in my coffee. Too soon?

Anyhooters, did you see the clip of Dubya talking over Kanye West with Matt Lauer? That right there, was high-larious. I love that he was a two term El Presidente. Cos, you can slice it or dice it any damn way....but HE DUMB!

Sad part is me dumb 2.

Yeah I didn't think so either but it was one of the more creative responses. I'm thinking accidental launch of a test and nobody wants to fess up. Test missiles aren't loaded so it's probably no big deal except for the embarrassment. Somebody's head's rolling I'm thinking.

Heff - I prefer a world where the military can get away with shit...

Doggie - nice pic!!! Anyway, yeah I saw that clip of him talking about Kanye. Effing stupid. I couldn't handle watching any more of it though. You think he's coming to the Book Revue for a signing? I'm thinking he will.

RW - All they had to say that it was un-announced, not accidental, and I'd be fine. Here with my head in the sand. Cozy.

I kind of like the retired guy's guess - that it was a show of power. It really wouldn't surprise me at all to hear it was- then again, sadly, nothing surprises me anymore!

Sybil - now the "official" word is that it was probably just a plane contrail. I don't know why they didn't know that when initially asked. You would think, with the information readily available today, that it would have been a matter of "Lemme check...yeah, that's from the 5:27PM flight from LA to Honolulu. American Airlnes flight #1786." Which makes me suspicious.
