My favorite month

Call it Shocktober, call it Rocktober, call it whatever you want.

But October is easily my favorite month of the year.

I love when Summer turns into Fall and there is a generally nip in the air, but it's not too cold. If you know what I mean. You can still sleep with the windows open at night for most of the month here in the Northeast. And the days are usually pretty nice. We are beginning this October with the remnants of Tropical Storm Nicole dumping a bucketful of rain on our heads, but it's gonna clear up and be real nice this weekend.

Another reason I love October is kind of a silly one. Watching horror movies. I know, I know...I can watch horror films all year round, right? True...but they just SEEM better in October. A windy, partly-cloudy October night with the moon peeking in and out and leaves blowing around. That's the perfect atmosphere for watching a horror movie, my friends. You get those odd noises coming from outside, maybe a little fog coming in off the harbor....it's the best!

Then there is Halloween. If you are reading this you probably know how I feel about Halloween, but if not let me just say that it's easily my favorite holiday. Everything about it. Pumpkins. Kids (and adults) dressed up as their favorite ghoul. Candy. What's not to love? We are going to be down in Charleston, SC again this year for Halloween and (while it's much warmer down there at this time of the year) I can't wait. I promise you all right now. I'm dressing up like The Dude this year. And there will be pictures!

So happy October* everyone. Hope you all enjoy it half as much as I do.

*Is anyone kind of looking forward to October 10th this year? 10/10/10, don't ya know. I'm not paying any bills this month until the 10th because I want to write that date down as often as possible. That's a bit of an anachronistic joke there. I haven't written a check in nearly forever. Who does these days? Just pay that shit online, yo!

Even though I'm not throwing my Halloween party this year, it's still a favorite month. I love December because of Christmas, though.

I love October for the same reasons. Also, speaking of scary movies (what?) I just saw Vampires, Los Muertos or whatever (Jon Bon Jovi). You know how if you eat something bad, all you want to do is eat something good to get the bad taste out of your mouth... I need a good vampire movie to get the taste out of my mouth... I hope you do a list this year like you did before...

Adam - I'm definitely an Autumn person. Christmas is nice, but December is too cold here for my liking.

Faiqa - Ooooh, that's a bad one. And I'd go a step further. That's like someone taking a shit in your mouth. Blech. The only way to get rid of that taste is to watch the first, the best, the original...Nosferatu!

But there's no nip at night in South Carolina. Do the trees turn there? Are people going to be trick or treating in warm weather? That can't happen. Can it?

Anyway, seriously, every time I wish I was living in year-round warm I think about the cold weather holidays and check myself. I guess I'm just doomed.

LOVE me some october. this is my favorite season and although autumn technically starts in september, october is when it really feels like fall. i can almost smell the cinnamon in the air. two apple festivals this weekend are starting my october off perfectly.

although... i must admit that i am a cry baby pee pee pants and can't handle scary movies. so yeah, i'm not even clicking on that damn trailer up there. bad earl!

love that two people can adore a month for totally different reasons...

One of the reasons I love autumn is because I can break out my boots!! Yes!
Scary movies just don't scare me, but I can appreciate the idea behind it all.
Yay for crunchy leaves and bonfires and pumpkin beer!!!

Paticus - The phone's ringin' because I'm the bag man, man.

Slyde - I only molest adults.

RW - I don't know if the trees turn, but it does get chilly at night. And last year they even had snow in Charleston one day. But yeah, I love me some Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas in proper weather.

Becky - I like it for all those reasons too. And September is MOSTLY summer, so yeah...

Doggie - And The Omen is clearly one of my favorites. Well done. Camel-totally well done.

Becky - I ashamed of you too. ;)

Sybil - bonfires! I forgot about those. Yes!!!
