Hit Girl Kicks Ass

I'm a little late to the party because this red-band trailer for Kick-Ass (Matthew Vaughn rocks so much) has been bopping around the Interwebs for over a week now. But when has that stopped me before?

Two things immediately come to mind.
  1. It looks cool.  Little girl saying "fuck" and "cunt" and shooting people and drinking a milkshake with Nic Cage.  All cool.  And I haven't read the comic book, but it sounds cool.  And Matthew Vaughn is pretty fucking cool.  But...
  2. It looks really silly.  I don't know if it was the choice of music for the trailer or the bad acting on the part of the little girl, but it looks really silly.  And Matthew Vaughn is British.  A notoriously silly bunch.  And Nic Cage is silly.  Have you seen his bird hair?
Are you excited for Kick-Ass?

I have seen this trailer and yes, I have an opinion.

Now, realize that I am the QUEEEN of enjoying the subversive humor and REALLY enjoy the un-pc side of things.

And really, nothing offends me. But, I think this offends me.

Well, maybe offend is the wrong word here. It's like the Borat film, this 'hit girl' film. There is no subtlety, there is no subtle wink wink - it's like being flashed in the subway.

I mean, what I am suppose to say, "Wow, nice penis you have there, you are so avant guard, so clever just whipping it out like that!"

or

"Wow, a little girl saying fuck? MY YOU ARE SO CLEVER!!"

Or

"WOW you are lazy. You came up with a shocking idea and called it a story. That makes you stupid and lazy."

sigh.

I like my un pc humor to have a touch of wisdom. Like the movie Old School, or The Onion newspaper.

btw, have you seen The Onion Movie?

TOP DRAWER I TELLS YA!!

"Notoriously silly", okay, I'll give you that the wife would also agree.

Be interesting to see the film, I agree the music in the trailer seems out of place.

I love the music - it seems to fit perfectly. Have you read the comic?

I'm very excited to see this, and I don't think Matthew Vaughn has made a bad movie yet.

Holly - Nothing offends you, but this offends you? Well which is it? ;)

Mik - that was specifically aimed at one of my British bloggy friends. :)

Ren - yeah!

Avitable - No I haven't read the comic yet, but I plan on it. And I agree about Vaughn.

Well, I for one would appreciate that instead of the usual screaming and carrying on about "calling the cops" this and "you're a pervert" that.

And the laughter. I could definitely do without the laughter.

Probably wouldn't see the movie, but I love that song.

badger - thought you might enjoy that.

Slyde - well you are even later to the game than I.

Limpy - maybe a prosthetic, like the one Marky Mark wore in Boogie Nights, might help. With the laughter, I mean.

I seriously must live under a rock - this is the first I've seen this promo!
Anyway, doesn't offend me at all, the little girl is pretty annoying, but I liked the music. I'd see it.

Silly? Nous?

Where do you get such ideas???

I have no opinion on Kick-Ass - whatever that is.

Yours from under next rock to Sybil Law

Sybil - well, by "all over" I meant "all over the geeky sites I visit". See?

Wabbit - Cucul? Tu? Oui!

This crosses the line of decency. I happen to work with young teen-aged children, and none of them would ever use such foul language. In fact, we should protect our youth from such filth, lest they end up like us.

Laying on sarcasm like mayonnaise to bread is a fun game. To the nay-sayers, real life is neither as innocent, nor as serious as you purport.

Doggie - you have no line of decency. Too soon? ;)

it does look a little silly
and i'm not sure i should pay $14 to see a little girl say fuck.
i mean, i see that for free any time i like.

i'll wait for the bug-eyed review

In a word "No", I am not excited to see this film. After being blown away by Avatar, I think I will just hermit in my garage and start watching my LaserDisc collection until James Cameron comes out with another epic in 10 years.
