Dirty Legs

I've been noticing something more and more lately after I shower each day. I don't seem to pay as much attention to my legs as the rest of my body when scrubbing down. Weird, right?

I'm a fanatic about scrubbing. I use one of these to really go at my skin. And I really do go to town. Face, shoulders, arms, torso, back, naughty bits...and feet. But for some reason as I make my way down from my upper thigh area to my feet, I seem to give my legs on the most cursory of scrubs. And I don't know why.

More to the point, I know that I'm doing this and I'm doing nothing about it. Isn't there a clinical term for that kind of inaction?  I mean, if I actually think about it before I start scrubbing, I will take some extra time with my legs.  But I normally don't think in the shower.  Or at least I don't think about showering when I'm in the shower.  I think about everything else.

It's not laziness. It takes far more effort to scrub my back or my feet (there will never be a fungus among us). Maybe I subconsciously believe that my legs from my upper thighs to my high ankles don't get as dirty as the rest of my body. It's a mystery to me.

Fascinating stuff, eh?

When you publish your recipes on the blog I have complained about the lack of pictures.

I think it is only fair that I thank you for the lack of pictures in this particular case.

Thank you.

I love my pouf thingie. I use moisturizing soap, so I actually DO get my legs in particular. But, I use 2 different soaps - the top half and bits get Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Soap. Arms, legs and feet get the moisturizing soap. It's a very complicated process, ya know?

I do the same thing. I think it's because I figure since the soapy clean water is running downhill, it almost gets clean by default.

You said feet WAY too much in this post.

Keep denying it, footsie-boy....

ETW - We have different soaps in the shower as well, but mostly for Gia. I use Irish Spring Clean Scrub body wash. Very refreshing.

Avitable - I like that theory. Sounds better than just being lazy.

Slyde - We see and hear and read what we want to hear. You keep projecting your foot fetish on me, boy...and I'll the THE story. You know what I'm talking about.

Invest in a loofah. Loofahs are cool.

It may be an ageing thing as regards legs. The effort involved in getting that far down is altigether too much...

you use that pouffy thing to scrub your ass, then again the next day to scrub your face? blech. i use a fresh washcloth every day. start at the stop and go down. once the washcloth touches my ass or feet? in the dirty laundry!

what were we talking about again? oh yeah....your legs. i am not grossed out as much that they aren't getting a good scrubbing because they probably aren't getting terribly dirty in the first place.

i'm still disturbed by the pouffy thingy. kuck!

wow, narf is so worked up she's all spell kucked!

Wabbit - Never liked a loofah. But willing to give it one more try.

Becky - Actually I tried really hard not to get into specifics, but since you asked...I don't use the scrubby thing on my ass. Exactly for the reasons you outlined. I was trying to avoid that part of the conversation altogether...

RW - Kucking A!

I hope you replace that thing regularly - those things are the perfect breeding ground for bacteria! Ick! (Not a fan of them. I do like a loofah, occasionally, though.)
My legs are always pretty clean because I shave them.

Sybil - yeah...very regularly.

I scrub my ass first and then I brush my teeth with it. I put the "poo" in poofy thing.

Doggie - I've been meaning to talk to you about your breath...

I don't know which is worse: that you wrote this or that I read the entire thing. ;-)

These comments MUST be your next post. I feel like I just watched a deleted scene from The Hangover.

Faiqa - That you read the entire thing is much worse. Sicko.

dbs - Heya! I think we need to leave the comments and this discussion here where it can die the death that it deserves. :)

I think this sort of marks your 'scarping the bottom of the blogging barrel' when it comes to content and themes.

Now I have this vision of what you must look like taking a shower..... Thanks! Thanks A Lot!
