National Geographic?

Nope.

Just a picture that I took of a spider that hangs around our front porch.  He just finished wrapping up his prey and he was taking a breather here.

Damn I'm glad to be bigger than a moth.

We have a spiders web amongst the original wooden beams of our scullery ceiling in our house(converted chapel) of which we inherited when we first renovated the place.
On occasion we have noted that odd items of fruit peel have been gift wrapped in web and left hanging like gilded christmas decorations on a tree.

My wife has a soft spot for auld "Spidey" so he remains untouched up there in his ecclesiastical palace, spinning his own yarns in undisturbed peace.

I'm no sure of the age of the wee beastie, but by the size of him I would say he would be at least 75.

... I may be wrang.

i like the picture. spiders are pretty fasinating as long as you are not in their web

Jimmy - That sounds like a proud beastie. Letting him be is a good idea.

2abes - I know. That moth or whatever it is in the shot certainly doesn't look like he is having fun.

Sybil - Thanks!

With a title like "National Geographic", I was honestly expecting this post to be about saggy native breasts.

We have garden spiders OUT THE ASS this season also.

Get back to me when I have reason to give a Templeton's ass about your spider.

Too soon?

Heff - oh what wonderful webs they weave.

Doggie - Never too soon. :)

We have a few resident spiders on the deck that make their home directly in our pathway, connecting the chairs to the table to the corner of the deck, but they never look this impressive!! I've never seen them catch anything...other than us.

i have a spider outside that i feed every night by turning on the flood light right after he builds his new web. so many bugs are attracted to the light that he has to rebuild every day, but i find the whole thing fascinating to watch. so long as they are small or outside, i love spiders because the eat bugs!

fantastic photo, earl. the ones i take of my pet spider never turn out so good.

Great photo, but Damn... that is one big ass spider.

Seeing the size of that thing, I'm glad I'm bigger than a dog.
