World Class

You've either A) already seen this or B) skipped it because it's about soccer, and who here in the good ole US of A gives a crap about soccer?

But you really should watch it. It's awesome with a capital fucking A!  Oh, and it's directed by this guy.  Not too shabby.

The World Cup starts June 11th.  I'm gonna be watching...in 3D!!  How about you?

Oh, hell yeah! I'll be watching all I can. Getting up early for so many games is going to be brutal. I'm taking some half days for USA and some other big games. Won't get any work done anyway.

The vid is freakin' awesome except Ronaldinho is not going so that sucks.

Dave - Really? Wow! I just looked it up and you are right. He is listed as a stand-by player, but that's amazing that they left him off. Something about Brazil trying to switch styles. Hmmm.

Trippy, ain't it? If he was 50 he'd still start for the US. It's always kind of sad to see a great player get passed over no matter the reason. Maybe he's lost a step but I'd still rather see him play. Brasil is so damn good they can leave him out? Scary.

I don't get it.

I'm very excited about the World Cup... Not so sad that Ronaldinho won't be there though. He's been a real lazyarse the last few years. And his form isn't so good for AC Milan that he'd keep out any of the others. They're all team players; Ronaldinho may have heard the word 'team' once upon a time, but its meaning was lost to him.

That's still the weakest Brazil squad I've seen in years though... Elano??? Fucking hell... I thought he was dead!

It's anybody's tournament - I think Serbia might do quite well and they are seriously undervalued by the bookies here in the UK. Put money on them to beat Germany, people... You'll get great odds. Mexico also has potential. But the favourites have to be Spain, if everyone is fit for them.

I'm burbling. But then, I love football, and the World Cup especially.

Over here we call it football.

THAT WAS AWESOME!!! SO EFFING COOL!!!

GODDAMN!!!

NICE!!!

It is indeed called football. I'm mildly interested already ;)

ps Elano is indeed dead. They propose to insert a corner flag up his fundament and have his remains thus propped up and vertical on the pitch in case the ball bounces off him to the advantage of the more animate Brazil players.

Trust this explains matters.

Do not want.

Yeah. That's pretty much what I've trained my daughter's soccer team to do.

I feel like I just watched an entire movie.

An awesome, action-packed, beautiful movie.

Thank you for sharing.

I won't be watching. :)

Dave - We'll see how their new style works out this year.

Avitable - S'okay...not a lot of Americans do.

badger - Howabout June 12th...England vs USA? Should be fun!

Doggie - Over where? Queens?

Holly - :)

Wabbit - Soccer, football, footie, whatever...I'm in!

RW - Then do not take. Easy peasy.

Uncool - She excels at the bicycle kick, eh? ;)

Sybil - Totally!

Poppy - Well, at least you enjoyed the ad for it.

Queens? Across the pond you bloody cunt!

Verdant Earl said...

Doggie - Hehehe..you said cunt!

B) LOL !

You're supposed to be appalled not amused.

You sick bastard.

Verdant Earl said...

Heff - it's the popular choice.

Doggie - Why? It's literally my favorite word! I just sound stupid saying it. It's meant to be said with some kind of brogue or something. LawnGuyland-ese makes it sound 'orrible.

That could be a really good game. Landon Donovan of LA Galaxy played in the Prem for a few months last season for Everton and shocked the shit out of everyone - he was excellent. You;ve got a few good players, and we've got a few injury worries... But this is anyone's tournament - including USA's or ours! The times are perfect for us with kick-offs though, as there's no time difference for the games. I'll be having a beer during the US-England game, perhaps we could co-ordinate a 'cheers' at some point in the game? Or several? We could make a drinking game then blog it afterward!!!

Verdant Earl said...

Yeah, maybe I'll live-blog it! I'll certainly be drinking anyway. Hehehe.

England vs USA on 06/12/2010

Yes, my actual home country will be playing my adopted home country. I promise, I'll be supporting USA all the way, except for when they play England. Then, well, you know ;-)

An impressive video to be sure, shudder to think of the thousands of extra sneakers that their sweat shops in asia had to turn out to pay for it.

I would watch soccer (in 2-D for that matter) if it were really this exciting, but alas it seldom is. It is a sport that you really have to understand to be able to love it, and sadly, most American's don't and are too arrogant to try.
