Lazyblogapalooza vol. II

Stolen with glee from PMS, I mean Paige M. Stanton.

Clicky on this linky and you can find out what the Billboard #1 song was on the day that you were born.

Mine turns out to be "You Keep Me Hangin' On" by The Supremes.
"Set me free, why don't cha babe
Get out my life, why don't cha babe
'Cause you don't really love me
You just keep me hangin' on
You don't really need me
But you keep me hangin' on"

What was playing on the radio the day you were born?

Here's mine: 1953 ... "Till I Waltz Again with You" by Teresa Brewer.

No wonder the folks of my generation acted like we did in the 70s.

It appears to be "Young Love" by Tab Hunter. I have never heard of it.

Poopie - Nice!

MikeB - Ha. Never heard of it.

Avitable - I did better than I thought I would do since I haven't read the Gunslinger series and I stopped reading King around Gerald's Game.

Evyl - Ha! I love it!

Zibbs - I'm guessing the second part was the most important there.

RW - I know he did some voice work for cartoons. That's all I got.

Michelle - That is cool.

Paticus - What is it good for?

Heff - good song and good movie. It was sung by Lulu who also acted in the film.

Wil - I like that one.

Bruce - Nope...never heard of it. But Tab Hunter was also an actor, right? Maybe it was from a film.

Amazing to have your first hit at the age of 13.

Looking more info on Stevie, he had a lot happen to him on August 6th... more hits, a car accident.

Ookami - That's a good one. Im jealous. Of your age too! ;)

Aunt Robin - We were just talking about Ricky Nelson...weird.

Faiqa - Breaker, breaker Rubber Duck. You got a bear in the air and a cab-over Pete with a reefer on. Huh?

"I'll Be There" by the Jackson 5.

Stan Freberg was something of a radio genius during the late-40s through the 70s...He did a number of novelty songs, but primarily, he was one of the pioneers of the kind of subversive radio comedy later fully developed by the Firesign Theater.

Another sphere of influence was in radio advertising. Do you recall a commercial where a voice-over narration describes a giant bowl with a mountain of ice cream with rivers of chocolate syrup ending with a jet plane flying by and dropping a huge cherry on top of it all? That was Stan Freberg.
